Melissa Savage

Certified Athletic Therapist

Melissa graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2005 on the Dean's List with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
In 2008, she completed a Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences in Athletic Therapy with High Honours from Sheridan College.

She began her experience in the field of Sports Medicine with the Women's Varsity Hockey team at UWO and has since worked with high school rugby, football, and wrestling, Jr. lacrosse, McMaster's Nationally ranked Basketball team and National level Figure Skaters.

She has already began expanding her skill set through extended course work, including Lumbar Assessment and Mobilizations, and plans to continue this practice in the near future.

She is trained in the administration of Low Level Laser Therapy for wound and tissue healing and Ionic Detoxification.

  • Chief Medical Official for Gravenhurst Triathlon, 2007
  • Anne Hartley Award for Excellence in Athletic Therapy, 2008
  • Primary therapist for McMaster University Women's Rugby and Basketball Teams, 2006/7
  • Head Therapist for Milton Jr. B Lacrosse, 2006
  • Therapist for Toronto Waterfront Marathon, Mississauga Marathon, and Oakville Half Marathon
  • Assistant Therapist and guest speaker in industrial settings.
  • Fitness Testing for National Tug of War Competitors
  • Biodex Testing for professional and recreational athletes
  • Marketing and recruitment assistant for Sheridan College, Dept. of Athletic Therapy

Recreation:

  • Melissa enjoys running, playing recreational hockey, working out, and spending time outdoors.
  • She grew up in Northern Ontario where she was involved in a variety of sports including figure skating, swimming, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and hockey.
  • As a result of her experience and interests, she has a good understanding of the requirements of sport, repetitive strain in the workplace, and both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries.

    She currently resides in Oakville and works out of Oakville and Hamilton.
